Annie’s “Evolving Aesthetic”

I just moved to Brooklyn after 10 years in Los Angeles, a cabin in Colorado, and a few years of wandering. My belongings sat in storage for almost two years before moving here. When I finally did open up that locker, I purged so much. It has been so refreshing to only hold onto to the things I really love and start over.

My space has three tiny bedrooms and one shared living space. I love the guest room because it is always the cleanest and most simple room in the apartment. I adore having guests and taking care of people and now I can offer them a private room! Having a room as a workspace for my jewelry and art is also a relief, to be able separate my work from my living space. The light in there is the best!

I think my favorite part of the apartment is the couch, mirror, coffee table combo. it has a modern 60s vibe to it. I take a lot of different influences across the board- 60s, 70s, nature, modern, even been feeling the 80s these days. I have been evolving in my aesthetic the last few years, which is a hard transition to make as it really takes time to build up those essential pieces. It is teaching me patience. I have stopped thrift store shopping to really focus on the idea of bigger statement pieces, but Brooklyn living doesn’t always allow for dream visions. Sometimes you have to just play with the space you have at hand, especially when you have little storage. I loved planning out this apartment to make everything fit just right.
