A 350-Square-Foot Studio Apartment Is Tiny But Fits A Lot of Amenities

Tell us a little (or a lot) about your home and the people who live there:I moved into this tiny studio apartment a year ago. I wasn’t planning to move, but I fell in love with how bright and cozy it was. I really liked the open concept, and I appreciated that there was a lot of room to move around in the kitchen. I work as arecipe developer/food stylist, so I’m always in the kitchen. It was big enough to squeeze in a kitchen island, which has been so handy. Oh, and my pole for pole dancing. (Finding an apartment big enough in Toronto for me to set this up has been a challenge, so I was thrilled there was just enough space!) It’s definitely a quirky apartment: My bathroom is hidden in a closet, I have a teeny claw foot tub, and my clothes closet is in my kitchen. Still, it’s my very own space, and I love it.
Everything in my apartment is soft and bright. I wanted it to be an inviting, yet calm space, so I’ve kept the walls relatively bare, and I’ve added soft pieces and knick-knacks to keep it feeling warm. My favorite piece of furniture is my green velvet sofa. It was a splurge, but it really pulls the entire room together (and bonus: It’s actually comfortable!). The double mirrors are also great for my pole workouts: I can see what I’m doing from the kitchen, and it makes it feel like I’m in a dance studio!
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less:Cozy, boho, airy
你最喜欢的房间是什么,为什么?I mean it’s really just one big room, which for one person, is lovely. But honestly, my favorite room has to be the bathroom. It’s just so weird. You open what feels like a closet and have to walk through all my coats. It feels like going through Narnia’s wardrobe just to have a bubble bath. I’m also obsessed with the clawfoot tub though, I’ll admit, I barely fit in for a soak!
What’s the last thing you bought (or found!) for your home?I actually scored the smaller mirror that’s stacked with the big one for free! I’d already purchased the taller mirror when I found this one, but I was determined to make it fit! Oh, the pampas grass was also a recent purchase. I was worried my cat would try to nibble it, but so far, so good!
Any advice for creating a home you love?为日常物品找到可爱互换。我喝醉的nd just swapping out my cat’s litter box for a nicer one, or getting a copper colander instead of a plastic one, really makes everything come together. If you’re terrible with plants, opt for ones that don’t require much, if any, attention. I have a snake plant, some pampas grass, and eucalyptus because I can basically set it and forget it. (Oh, and the fiddle leaf is fake.) And lastly, decorate with everyday objects. I lot of my decor is just books that don’t fit on my bookshelf or food styling props that don’t fit in my cupboards. When you live in a studio, everything is on display, so I’ve had to get creative with where things go.
