Apartment Therapy Blogger Style: Shifrah’s Own Bathroom
The bathroom in our new construction is far beyond anything I would have designed for myself. But I really love it. My husband and I joke that there’s no point in going to a Bed & Breakfast because nothing could beat our bathroom. One of our builder’s signature items is his beautiful baths. And since taking baths is a favorite wind-down of this mama, I’m very appreciative; this tub does not languish unused.
As you may have guessed if you’ve seen myliving roomandbedroomposts, the gold dresser is an inheritance from my grandparents’ home. I love its intricate designs and the gold is so unapologetic.
Speaking of unapologetic, I chose a bright, bold, and rather large burst of artificial peony blooms to break up the long wall of mirror above the long slab of granite. This double vanity is on the wall adjacent to the tub.
I chose chocolate towels to balance out the richness of the dark wood cabinets. But I wanted white bath rugs to keep the clean, light feeling of the room.
Opposite the bathtub is the shower, which is next to the toilet room. (I’m a huge fan of having a separate room with its own door). The gold filigree wastebasket ties in the dresser, and the blossom sketch was done by my sister (who has since put her artistic prowess to farther-reaching use through her non-profit,Creative Capacities International).
Although I sometimes wonder if too much square footage was “wasted” in the master bathroom, I do enjoy the luxurious airyness of the space every day.
