Name:Ashley
Location:Margaret River, Western Australia

We live in a three bedroom, 1 bathroom small home in Western Australia. Built in the early 90s, with a combined open plan living space we carefully turned the interior brick from icky brown to a creamy white and updated with art, plants and furniture we adore.

We have been on a journey to simplify our home for a while. We follow the mantra of only keeping things which are “useful, beautiful, or meaningful” and ensure that if something new comes in, something old goes out. It keeps our small space orderly and room for us to breathe. I need to love the things in my home.

We have two small children and have incorporated their needs into our home, we all live happily in the space.

Our space is both modern but earthy with inspiration drawn from the Australian environment and landscape.

I love the view I have from the kitchen. I can make food (my love language) for my family and watch them play and giggle from there. We spend a lot of time drawing and painting at the dining table and reading stories, building forts in the living room.

We have an amazing collection of Aboriginal artwork and baskets that were collected from time we spent teaching in a remote community in the desert. Many were gifted by special people that became our friends.

My favorite part of my home is the drawings by my daughter and the photographs of our family who live far away from us.

Thanks, Ashley!
