They’ve both been passionate about interior design and beautiful, charming houses.

After renting five apartments over the last 10 years they felt ready to buy their own place.

Moving from Portland, Oregon (where Natalie studied to become an art therapist) to Austin, Texas in 2013 was a huge adjustment. “I had found out I was pregnant the day we packed up and said goodbye to all of our friends and our lovely Portland neighborhood.

Name: Kayla and Amir Farhang and their dogs, Rusty “Pants” and Bo Jackson Location: Austin, Texas Size: 2,400 square feet Years lived in: 8 months; Owned Kayla and Amir live in Austin with their two dogs, Rusty “Pants” and Bo Jackson. To make a long story short, they basically left their long-time home in Los Angeles for Austin because they fell in love with a house, a city, and its people. Kayla is a life stylist, host, and speaker in LA, NYC, and Austin.

Names: Finley (4-years-old) and Jackson (5 1/2 years old) Location: Seattle, Washington Room sizes: Bathroom – 47 square feet; Finley’s Room – 100 square feet; Jackson’s Room -130 square feet The adorable Finley and Jackson of Finley and Jackson’s “Modern Shabby-Chic” Bedrooms & Playrooms are back with new and improved big kid bedrooms and bathroom. Their mom, Emily, had been thinking about adding a bathroom to the upper level of their home for years.

Six weeks after Jenni moved to their beach town, they met in a sequence of events involving tequila shots, mistaken advances toward a waitress, a whispered coaxing from a friend, and an ocean swim.

She worked in advertising for many years up until having her first child. Her husband Nick is in the same industry, and because they both know how many hours their work requires, for now, Sri has decided to stay home to care for their lovely son Samuel.

Franka notes, “There are a lot of special places and beautiful streets in Amsterdam, but I couldn’t resist the stunning homes in our neighborhood. This neighborhood always made me feel happy when I would bike through.

Location: Marylebone, London, United Kingdom Size: 1,400 square feet Years lived in: Rented 1 year After leaving Amsterdam where she lived for the past seven years, Alison wanted to start her new adventure in London by first creating the perfect home. Alison’s London flat is influenced by many things — her love of travel, entertaining, her desire to bring a little bit of Dutch design and creating a space that is “inviting and relaxing”.

Name: Lisa and Richard Location: Museumplein, Amsterdam, The Netherlands Size: 1,150 square feet Years lived in: 2 years; Owned Lisa, from the States, and Richard, from the Netherlands, bought their first home in Amsterdam in 2012. Their vision was to create “a space that had character but was still minimal and not overloaded with artifacts.” They also wanted a home with a cozy feel, or as the Dutch would say, “Gezellig”.

Name: Mandy and Matt Location: Amsterdam, Centrum Size: 1,200 square feet Years lived in: 1 year; Rented Before packing up their belongings and moving back to the United States, Mandy and Matt wanted to share their lovely Amsterdam canalside home.

Name: Rafael Location: Amsterdam Room Size: 36 square feet Take a peek into Rafael’s darling little sanctuary where he spends countless winks! Sofia, his mother, did an excellent job using muted and natural colors with a pop of blue and delicate touches around the room. She took time choosing items that were personal (including vintage pieces that her husband used growing up) and practical.

A truly bittersweet tour for me – walking around Megan and Mike’s lovely home knowing that boxes waited in the other room ready to pack up everything and officially close their Amsterdam chapter – made this a sad day, but a happy one knowing we shared some nice memories in this canal-side flat.

Cozy, light, warm, subtle pops of color and thoughtful vintage accents combined with Emily’s (Finley and Jackson’s mom) spectacular taste and creative aesthetic make this tour memorable.

Name: Fay Markopoulou and Max Meyer Location: Shoreditch, London Size: 120 square meters (approximately 1290 square feet) Years lived in: 5 Months; Rented This is the home of the lovely Fay, and her fiancé Max. I had the honor of meeting this spectacular couple while visiting a friend in London. Soon after, it was brought to my attention that I didn’t want to miss seeing their truly special home.

Name: Penny Lee Location: Amsterdam, The Netherlands Size: 55 square meters (592 square feet) Years lived in: 7 years; Owned Penny Lee, an art director and designer from Yorkshire, has been based in Amsterdam for the past ten years. The ice blue color contrast with white, pink and the light hard wood floors leaves you feeling like you are floating in the sky. Lexy’s mom Erin did a fantastic job designing the room.

Name: Johanna and Scott Location: Westerpark; Amsterdam, The Netherlands Size: 750 square feet Years lived in: 2 years; Rented After five years abroad and three moves around the Netherlands, Johanna and Scott planted themselves in a charming flat that needed a little love and patience. I’ve always admired Johanna’s ability to hone in on the little things.

Splashes of color to balance out the white floor and walls, placement of beautiful furniture, and special handcrafted accents are just a part of the unique beauty of this home.
