This is where baby Capton will be spending some time when he or she arrives. But to tell you the truth, it was more important to us that the room was done to our taste than baby’s.

We painted out the room to match the neutral walls found throughout the rest of our home, and added some drama by painting the ceiling dark. The diamonds surrounding the crib are crafted from a roll of vinyl chalkboard adhesive.

We had fun personalizing items that we either found, thrifted or that were given to us. We found the wicker rocking horse at a local thrift store and spray painted it “paprika” red for a pop of colour. I made the mobile out of paint chips and an embroidery hoop.

The crib is from Ikea, however we did add chalkboard vinyl to the footboard and the yarn tassels to personalize it a bit. We made the blanket rope ladder out of wood salvaged from outside a pallet supply building. The pouf footstool was made from three throw rugs found at Jysk at $5/piece. The wing back chair was a hand-me-down from my husband’s Oma…the rocking chair is in front of the TV.

The barn wood frame was used as a photo prop at our wedding five years ago. We inserted pegboard to make it a more functional piece for storage.

I tried my hand at some string art only I adapted it by painting cork trivets and using straight pins instead of nails like most string art projects do.

The dresser was a hand-me-down from my husband’s grandpa. It came to us sanded down and ready for painting…another pop of colour for Baby Capton’s room. The shelving between the chair and dresser was made from 3 crates, whitewashed and fastened together then placed on castors. The stump side table was a road side find. I simply sanded and sealed it and put it on castors too.

We hope that Baby Capton will give the room his/her stamp of approval upon arrival!

Thanks, Krista!
