Before & After: A Billy Bookshelf Revolution

I recently told you about my quest toclass up my Billy bookcases(and find someone online who’d already done the hard work for me to copy) and here’s another stellar idea from Little Green Notebook. It’s incredible how the extra additions to the ready-made shelving make a world of difference.

I can just imagine Jenny causing some sort of worldwide Billy shortage with this one. She transformed two awkward nooks into this amazing wall of yummy built-in shelving.

First she set in her Billys, it was already a pretty good fit. Lucky!

The she hit up the Home Depot for the wood to build a base to make her shelves look more substantial.

She also added molding to fill in the gaps between her shelves and the wall (and smartly painted it black to frame the shelves with contrast).

It’s really such an incredible difference.

Did you spot another difference? Of course you did, eagle eyes. Jenny also filled in that cut-out niche above the fireplace. For our purposes here, let’s just ogle those shelves a while longer and leave the plastering for another day.
