Q:Hi! I am hoping you can give me some much needed advice. I am renting my first apartment—it’s a two story townhouse—and I think one wall in the foyer would benefit greatly from a really bold, patterned wallpaper (I have no restrictions on what I can do in the unit). There’s just one problem. I have always been told that paint and wallpaper should only end at a corner or some other break in the wall, and this particular wall has no breaks. It continues through the foyer, up the stair and across the entire second floor hall…

This would be way too much pattern going on and I am trying desperately to think of a way to “break” the wall down in the foyer. Any ideas? I am stumped. Thanks in advance! -Sent byCass

Editor:Great question! We had a similar conundrum in our new house, in which repainting the one small section of a wall that needed it would have meant painting a huge amount of wall that didn’t need it! Readers, what do you recommend Cass do? If you’ve seen any examples of wallpaper “broken” in unusual ways, please share!
