My second week began with the pantry purge and the decluttering carried on throughout the whole week. For my parents, the pantry purge couldn’t have come at a better time. On Christmas Eve, several of the pantry shelves collapsed onto each other under the heavy weight of too many wine bottles—and now it was time to find a solution.

The Pantry Purge

After observing the pantry situation, I decided to do a bit of research on wine racks. I found a folding wine rack that had the perfect dimensions and was slim enough to fit in the narrow space available. I ended up with the 54 bottle iron folding wine rack fromContainer Store.

Choose A Project

The project that I chose from the list last week is to work on the living room bookshelves. The bookshelves have intimidated my mom for 2 years since she wants them to look really stylish and well put together. The project also involves heavy lifting and digging books out of storage. My project work this week included started with a trip to my storage unit which I hadn’t seen in 2 years!

The Get Together

Since the January Cure ends just in time for Super Bowl Sunday, it makes the perfect time for a get together. As I’m planning the menu, I’m thinking of a baked potato bar with toppings ranging from the basics to a chicken chili verde.

Surface Sweep

This activity came at a perfect time as we had a house guest coming and I had moved into my parents guest area like it was a hotel room with clothes all over, a few dishes, paperwork, etc. It was time for me to get it together and it really only needed about 10 minutes of some running around.

Declutter a Drawer

This is a tough one for me as I have trouble just sticking to one drawer at a time. I have picked one of my dad’s desk drawers to clean out when I discovered he was hoarding empty prescription bottles and dog poop bags in a desk drawer. I hope to catch up on this one this week. He wasn’t thrilled with my pantry solution at first as he hates change, but after an hour of studying the pantry he now thinks it was a really good solution.

More before and afters of fresh organization to come next week…
