Kenyatta is inspired by patterns in nature, textures, and bold and bright colors, all of which can be found in her Chicago apartment. “I think the thing I love most about my home is the elements of history, memories, and design,” Kenyatta says. “I love how they all come together and couldn’t exist without each other.” As a self-taught artist and owner ofUrban Macrame Fibers, she creates beautiful wall hangings and wall art that add texture to any space.

As a local maker herself, Kenyatta strives to support local artists and makers, and proudly displays their art and goods throughout her space. She takes pride in Chicago, her neighborhood, and the diversity and intersection of cultures in her community. By adding small reminders of the things she loves throughout the space — whether it’s art or a piece of furniture — her home maintains a warmth while remaining clean and modern at the same time. Kenyatta adds, “The pops of color catch my eye, but the elements of wood make me feel like I’m one with nature.”
