Name:Noemi, Cristian and her dog Mel
Location:Barcelona, Spain
Size:539 square feet
Years lived in:Renting 1 year

A few years ago Noemi and Christian moved to Belgium for a new life. But they missed the pace and the light of Barcelona, so they came back. Though they started with nothing when they moved into this small rental apartment, sometimes new beginnings inspire you to create beautiful things.

Christian is a lawyer and Noemi has her own business as a graphic designer. Together, they have combined their styles to create one cohesive look, one that’s heavily inspired by the Mediterranean landscape and quiet, open spaces.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

Our Style:Mediterranean, minimal, nordic, contemporaneous, cultural, natural…

Inspiration:The sea, swimming, space and silence. Mediterranean as a way of life. Architecture and Barcelona daily life.

Favorite Element:每个元素解释了我们生活的一部分d history. The sofa was the first thing we bought in Belgium and some years after, when we came back to Barcelona, it was the first thing we put in our new flat. It represents our beginning.

Biggest Challenge:Starting from a small space, we have tried to create a diaphanous environment. We have removed doors and we have painted in white to bring light into the apartment.

What Friends Say:They love the decoration, the plants and all the ideas that are inside. They also love the terrace and they become mesmerized by the movement of bamboo in the wind.

Biggest Embarrassment:Our kitchen is so small that we can not have two people inside at the same time.

Proudest DIY:We have hung a wood stick from the ceiling in order to make space for some hanging plants.

Biggest Indulgence:Our terrace has become a natural oasis in the middle of the city. It is also Mel’s (our dog) favorite place and where she spends the day sunbathing.

Best Advice:Surround yourself with plants. And less is more.

Dream Sources:Miguel Milà, Santa & Cole, HAY, natura house, calma house, fleamarkets, couleurlocale.eu, etsy, ….

Thanks, Noemi and Cristian!
