Name:Amy Chan
Location:切尔西——纽约,纽约
Size:550 square feet
Years lived in:Renting

Amy Chan, the founder ofRenew Breakup Bootcampand arelationship columnist, has a philosophy when it comes to designing spaces. “Spaces have energy. Your body can feel the energy of the space once you walk in — listen to that. I saw over 20 apartments before I found this one, and when I stepped inside, I just knew it had to be mine. Your home should be an oasis from the busy streets, so invest in making it beautiful,” she says.

Some ways to keep your space feeling good: “Buy fresh flowers. Clear out clutter. Always have beautiful things in sight,” advises Amy. Following this philosophy, Amy has created a space that’s a “Pinterest dream,” and a home that represents and supports one of her most important life values: nurturing the people she loves by cooking for them.

Apartment Therapy House Tour Survey:

My Style:Shabby chic

Inspiration:Paris romance meets New York charm

Favorite Element:Massive windows with lots of sunlight shining in

Biggest Challenge:Perfect for one person but no private space if sharing

What Friends Say:It’s a Pinterest dream!

Proudest DIY:Putting up my massive six-foot baroque floor mirror.

Biggest Indulgence:Wood and steel bookshelf from Restoration Hardware

Best Advice:Every detail in my home has been designed with intention – there is nothing there by accident. There has been a thought process behind every book, chair, cup and decoration. The way I designed my home is reflective of how I live life – think about the overall vision of what I want to create, then approach with thought and intention.

Buy fresh flowers. Clear out clutter. Always have beautiful things in sight. I purposely do not have a TV (haven’t had a TV for 12 years) and the focal point is the dinner table. It’s symbolic of one of the values of my life – gathering people together to break bread, to connect and bond over tea, to nurture people I love by cooking for them.
