Amy’sarts and crafts Chicago bungalowis filled with unique furniture and accessories from antique stores, estate sales, and her travels. The home itself is vintage, so it inspires her to find things that have a history. While her style leans towards mid-century, her home doesn’t have a specific theme. She likes to keep it eclectic, mixing old with new, as well as bold patterns and colors with neutral and modern accents.

The result of her eclectic taste is a relaxing and cozy home that looks beautiful without being overly styled. Amy approaches her home with a slow and steady mindset to avoid making everything match, and only brings in furniture, accessories and art she loves. “I’ve only lived here a bit more than a month and I came in with quite a few pieces I love, but I try to resist the urge to be ‘done’ and finish everything at once,” Amy says. My Style:Transitional, MCM

Inspiration:No one place. I want my house to be eclectic and random. I get inspiration and pieces from travel, flea markets, antique stores, magazines and blogs, friends. The home’s vintage itself inspires me.

Favorite Element:Hard to pick a favorite. My couch was my first “grownup” furniture purchase and where I spend most time at home, so it’s a favorite. I love busts and brass — they’re everywhere in my house. But my single favorite piece I’d say is the “Bar Hounds” print in the dining room.

Biggest Challenge:A limited budget (isn’t that everyone’s answer?)

What Friends Say:好了不超过ly fussy. Relaxing and chill. A “cozy, metallic, mid-century menagerie.” Most ask where I got the bookshelf or comment on the green walls in the dining room.

Biggest Embarrassment:The hall bathroom I haven’t yet redone that is behind closed doors for this tour…I don’t understand how an ornate French country vanity ends up in an arts and crafts bungalow.

Proudest DIY:I’m not particularly crafty, so I’ll cheat and say picking everything out myself and having the master bathroom built.

Biggest Indulgence:The big table — I can’t wait to host a dinner party — and the chandelier above the bed — you stare at it every night, right?

Best Advice:Everything is more interesting when you approach things thoughtfully, build as you go and don’t try to make everything “match.”

Dream Sources:Where I shop now, mostly. Vintage and antique stores, flea markets, estate sales…I’d probably expand to sources like Chairish and First Dibs. For retail, I’d like to shop at Design Within Reach, Room and Board, Rejuvenation, Serena and Lily, MoMA, DwellStudio, Design Public, Jayson Home.
