How To Make a Hanging Lace Lamp
It’s hard to believe that this beautiful hanging lace lamp can be made at home with little more than some creativity, a few doilies, and a balloon. Want to learn more?
While I haven’t done paper mâché since third grade,Isabelle from Dos Familycreated this amazing lace lamps using the basic paper mâché technique, doilies and balloons. Here’s the scoop:
What You Need:
Materials
- White Glue OR Flour
- 水
- Many Doilies
- 1又大又圆的气球
- Scissors
- String
- A light bulb socket
- A CFL or LED bulb
Instructions
1.Blow up the balloon and hang it from a length of string. Be sure to place some newspaper below the work area, just in case it drips. Make sure the balloon is large enough so that when you add the light bulb, it’s far enough away from the side to be safe.
2.Make paper mâché paste using one of many available recipes Below are a few options which can be more or less effective depending on the temperature or humidity of your environment:
- Option 1: 3/4 white glue to 1/4 water, mixed
- Option 2: 1 part flour to 5 parts water, boiled for 3 minutes and set to cool
- 选项3:1 flou一部分r to 1 part water, stirred
3.Soak the doilies in the mâché paste.
4.Layer the dollies on the balloon.
5.Let it dry! It might taken anywhere from a day to a week depending on your mâché recipe, the humidity and the temperature. Wait for it to be dry and rigid.
6.Pop the balloon and cut a hole for the light bulb.
7.Insert the light bulb socket and enjoy! Make sure to use a low heat bulb, CFL or LED.
