If you (like us) waited on pins and needles for theIKEA catalog to dropevery year and were crushed when you heard theinspiration-filled 2021 catalogwould be theflat-pack retailer’s last, you’ll be thrilled to hear about IKEA’s latest project, the first-ever audio version of the catalog.

Available on YouTube, Spotify, Audiobooks, and the IKEA website, the audio experience transforms the IKEA 2021 catalog’s 286 print pages to an immersive 3 hour and 41-minute retelling.

As the prologue explains, the aim of the project is to provide “a tour for the ears.” After all, “you’ve probably binged through every possible podcast, audiobook, and Best of 2020 playlist there is, so maybe you could use some new soothing sounds to put on as we all continue waiting for normal life to get back to, well, normal.”

The audio catalog has home tours with six families, seven how-to sections, and helpful to-do lists spread throughout the nearly 4 hours.

Chapter 1 (or, pages 6-23 of the catalog) is called “Swim, Surf, Sleep Repeat!” and walks you through a surfer couple’s small and “bright, sea breeze-y space,” complete with ASMR nature sounds.

Chapters 2-6 also take you through the homes of families of different sizes and backgrounds. Chapter 7 is where the how-tos begin, starting with “How To Get Set For Great Sleep,” then “How To Give Your Bathroom A Boost,” “How To Organize Absolutely Everything,” “How To Show Off Your Style,” “How To Love Your Living & Dining Room,” “How To Cook Up a Delicious Kitchen,” and the final chapter, “How To Have Fun & Get Things Done.”

With newInstagramandSnapchatgames launched recently as well, IKEA is certainly going multi-platform and is all-in on bringing organization, simplification, and style to your space. Clearly, it’s time to add IKEA to yourlist of podcasts for home inspiration.
