This morning we checked out thehouse tour of Naseem Alizadehof The Bureau for Architecture and Urbanism and were psyched to see that Naseem works at the same desk as we do. TheIkea Melltorpwas originally designed to be a dining table, but we’ve noticedmoreandmorepeopleusing it as their home office workspace. We’re not surprised since it’s a pretty wicked desktop.

What makes it so special? It’s simple. The white on white design means it’s unobtrusive to the eyes, it’s width (if you’re working on the 49-inch version; Naseem seems to be on the 68-inch version) is just wide enough to fit your legs and install a small drawer system underneath. We installedIkea’s Helmerunderneath our table. Also, the depth is just deep enough to fit all your home office peripherals, plus any tchotchke you insist on having at your disposal (guilty!).

The best part? It’s cheap! The 49-inch version goes for $60, while the 68-inch goes for $70. We’ve had ours for about three years now and it still looks great — despite the 18 hours a day 7 days a week of use it gets.
