On Nov. 8, Kate Hudson posted a photo on Instagram dedicated to getting a good night’s sleep with help from a supplement from her INBLOOM brand. But honestly, if we all had a fluffy bouclé chair like the one Hudson is sitting in, we would probably drift off to dreamland in a heartbeat.

Bouclé furniture— pieces upholstered with that curly or looped yarn fabric — has been a big thing in celebrity interior design for the past few years.Gabrielle Union hasa set of bouclé sofas and Gwyneth Paltrow’sGOOP released a boulcé armchairin collaboration with CB2 in 2018.

But bouclé has been around for quite some time, because Hudson’s chair is actually a vintage piece from the 1970s.

It’s likely an original (or reproduction) of designer Vladimir Kagan’s “Nautilus” swivel chair, which he first created in the 1970s. They gained huge popularity in the ‘80s and were made in various shapes and fabrics, including this wooly bouclé.

There’s a set of similar Nautilus chairs for sale on 1stDibs (with a matching ottoman) that are going for $12,000.

Because Nautilus chairs were so popular during the late 20th century, you can sometimes find vintage lookalikes at thrift stores or on online marketplaces. And giving an old chair like a Kagan Nautilus new life with a trendy bouclé reupholstery job will make your spacethatmuch more sleek.

But with bouclé current popularity, there are also so many new furniture pieces out there to choose from.

Thebouclé barrel chair from Article, for example, is a similar vibe to Hudon’s Kagan. Thankfully, the resting-on-a-cloud trend isn’t going anywhere.
