Most of my professional life has been spent working the pastry station in restaurant kitchens, so yes, myKitchenAid stand mixeris pretty much the love of my life. With the power of an industrial stand-up mixer but the size and aesthetic of an at-home mixer, I think it’s a pretty perfect kitchen appliance. The only problem with having one of these around? The cakes, cookies, bars, and brownies. The pies, breads, muffins, and cupcakes. What can I say? I have a chronic sweet tooth. So when I was giftedKitchenAid’s juicer attachmentfor Christmas last year, I had a bit of an existential crisis. Could I, proficient maker and eater of sweet treats, convert my usage of this wonderful piece of equipment from making génoise to green juice? The surprising answer: Yes!

The simple truth is that I now use mystand mixeras a juicer more often than I use it to whisk, knead, or mix. KitchenAid’sjuicer attachmenteasily screws onto the front of the mixer, which makes it more convenient than other juicers that require lots of countertop or cabinet space. While the juicing pieces are easy to quickly detach from the stand mixer, I find that I never put them away because I use the attachment every single day.

When my juicer attachment pieces are not sitting atop my mixer waiting to whir into health-juice-making action, they are being cleaned … in my dishwasher! Unlike many other juicer options, the five pieces that make upthis attachmentcan go in the dishwasher, or you can easily wash them by hand in cold or warm water. Positioned at a lower price point than other comparable juicers, the set also contains extra pieces to make sure you’re getting the most out of your investment. Along with the five pieces used to juice, the attachment comes with a waste container (for the shredded solids left over after fruits and veggies are juiced), a pitcher with an airtight lid (so you can store your concoction in the fridge), and a brush with a curved handle to easily sweep away any hard-to-reach pulp while cleaning.

But the best thing about this juicer? The juice! With three mesh straining options, you have full control of how much pulp winds up in your cup, and if you’re using the attachment to make sauce, the ability to eke out a thicker mixture is extra helpful. Making apple or tomato sauce is as much of a breeze as making a fresh juice to add to your holiday sangria. No matter what you are feeding into this attachment’s wide chute, you can be assured that after your choice of produce has made its way through the multiple slicers and strainers, it will turn out delicious (not to mention nutritious).
