Lance Bass Says He Tried to Buy the Brady Bunch House—But Didn’t Get It

The ’70s and ’90s were about to mashup in the most interesting and weirdest way possible. Former *NSYNC member Lance Bass revealed that he put a bid on thehouse whereThe Brady Bunchwas filmedand it had been accepted! But just a few short hours later, Lance revealed some heartbreaking news, according to his social media accounts.

A few weeks ago, news broke that the house whereThe Brady Bunchwas filmed had gone up on the market. As with most TV shows, the real house is where exterior scenes and shots were filmed forThe Brady Bunch. Inside shots were filmed at a studio, however.

Featuring perfectly preserved 1970’s décor, it boasts one of the largest lots in the neighborhood– over 12,500 sqft. Enormous, lush backyard gardens & lawn, completely private & serene.

The home was put on the market for $1.88 million in mid-July and unsurprisingly, people jumped on the offer. One of them was Bass. Lance posted that on Twitter and Instagram that his offer on the home had been accepted. Even Marcia Brady herself, Maureen McCormick, chimed in to wish Lance good luck.

But several hours later, Lance learned some awful news. Even though he says he’d been told he was the “winning bidder” and that the house would be his, he found out that there was another bidder willing to spend anything to get the house. Lance shared the details from his perspective in an Instagram post.

Im feeling heartbroken today. As many of you may have heard, we placed the winning bid on the iconic Brady Bunch house—at least that’s what we were told. The agent representing the estate informed us we made the winning bid (which was WAY over the asking price) after the final deadline for all offers had passed—even writing up the “winning bid” for my team after informing me of the good news. Isn’t a deadline a deadline? This was a dream come true for me and I spent the night celebrating amongst friends, family, and fans alike. The next day, due to “unforeseen circumstances” the same agent informed us that there’s another Corporate Buyer (Hollywood studio) who wants the house at any cost. We were prepared to go even higher but totally discouraged by the sellers agent, they will outperform any bid with unlimited resources. How is this fair or legal?? How can I compete with a billion dollar corporate entity? I truly believe I was used to drive up the price of the home knowing very well that this corporation intended on making their offer and it’s not a good feeling. I feel used but most importantly I’m hurt and saddened by this highly questionable outcome. I just hope it is not demolished.
