According to the recently released royal financial statement, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have undergone an HGTV-worthy renovation at Frogmore Cottage, and we think Chip and Jo would be very proud.

Frogmore Cottagesits about half a mile south of Windsor Castle, and is nearFrogmore House, which served as the backdrop of Meghan and Harry’s December 2017 engagement photos. The cottage, which has been a royal residence since 1792, was previously broken up into five separate housing units. The new design combines the smaller units into one functioning home for the growing family. Other additions include a luxury bathroom, kitchen, and new flooring.

Keeper of the Privy Purse, Sir Michael Stevens, notedthat the residence “had not been the subject of work for some years and had already been earmarked for renovation in line with our responsibility to maintain the condition of the occupied royal palaces estate.”

He continued, “The Sovereign Grant covered the work undertaken to turn the building into the official residence and home of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their new family. The building was returned to a single residence and outdated infrastructure was replaced to guarantee the long-term future of the property. Substantially all fixtures and fittings were paid for by Their Royal Highnesses.”

Prior to the move, the newlyweds were residing inNottingham Cottageon the grounds of Kensington Palace in London, which also houses Kate Middleton and Prince William. The massive construction took about six months to complete, beginning in November 2018 and wrapping up at the end of March 2019. Right on time, as their first born son Archie, was born in May 2019.
