Name:Anna Eskridgeand my husband

Years lived in:5 years, renting
My husband and I have called our 1,031-square-foot apartment home now for the past five years. To be honest, it is the first apartment that I have ever lived in and I have loved it so far. I was immediately sold when taking the initial tour I noticed the large walk-in closet in the bedroom and the floor-to-ceiling windows throughout the rest of the space.
It’s been a lot of fun designing our home over the past few years. Looking back, we’ve come a long way not only in the quality of our design but in the narrowing down of our style. Something that really helped us with that process, has been determining ourcore family values. This simple exercise (that I encourageall of my clients to do) allows you to see what is most important to you in life; encouraging you to orient your life accordingly. For example, one of our values is “slow living” and so a couple of years back we made the drastic decision to donate our TV. People thought we were crazy but to be honest, it’s been great! Instead of getting sucked into hours of watching television, our space is oriented to promote reading, conversation, or heading out doors.
Describe your home’s style in 5 words or less:Warm, bohemian, natural
什么是你最喜欢的房间和why?Ah, this a hard one… but I would have to say our bedroom. Having both southern- and eastern-facing windows, this room is flooded with sunlight throughout the day. While we have pops of color throughout the rest of the home, I intentionally choose to use only white and cream-colored furnishings in this space, so between that and the light, this room radiates warmth and positivity.
If you could magically change something about your home, what would it be?This is a toss-up between installing wood floors and having a garden to grow herbs and produce.
Any advice for creating a home you love?My biggest piece of advice for creating a home that you love is to take your time. The most interesting homes are those which are curated over the years and are filled with pieces that the owners love and use on a regular basis.
Thanks, Anna!
