Spring Cleaning Will Be More Rewarding Than Ever, And We’re Here to Help

I consider it a real honor to have helped Apartment Therapy readers clean and organize their spaces over the past several years. We all gather together (through email, and social media, and here on the site) a couple times a year to take on projects like theJanuary Cure,Spring Cleaning, andSeptember Sweep. Day by day through those guided programs, we work on small tasks together to make our spaces better. A junk-drawer-declutter here, an oven-door-scrub there. Apartment Therapy has been doing it for years, and honestly, the process of delivering that content to you has been as routine as routine can be.

Well 2020 has really shaken up that routine, as I’m sure it’s done for your daily lives at home. The team at Apartment Therapy was working hard behind the scenes to plan this year’s Spring Cleaning program whenthe coronavirus outbreakthrew a big wrench in the plan. But we’ve heard from so many of our readers that you’re looking for new ways to take care of your home right now. Amidst all the chaos and uncertainty, something like dusting off a bookshelf can really feel like comfort, security, and control. Especially when you know there are thousands of other Apartment Therapy readers and editors dusting their bookshelves off, too.

What is Apartment Therapy Spring Cleaning?

Spring Cleaning is afree10-day group class guided by me, Taryn Williford, Apartment Therapy’s cleaning editor. Beginning the Monday after you sign up, I’ll send you doable assignments every weekday for two weeks. Each day, we’ll tackle a new cleaning task—those once-in-a-while deep cleaning efforts that you don’t always get to during your regular cleaning. It’s my job to nudge you, walking you through what to clean and when to really maximize your efforts, but it’s your job to get in there and do the thing. I promise each endeavor will be satisfying, both for your home and your heart.

I consider it a real privilege to have a home to retreat to right now in the world. And our homes are working harder than ever to support each of us—dining room tables are becoming offices, and kitchen counters becoming schoolrooms. Doing these cleaning tasks means more than just a shiny shower stall. It’s a way to show your home that you love and appreciate it. And it’s a way to exercise some small bit of control over your life when everything else is so uncertain.

How Do I Join?

All you have to do is sign up with your email in the form below (or onour email signup page). Then we’ll send those daily assignments straight to your inbox every morning, so you can plan out how you’ll get that day’s task done.

What Can I Expect?

一点点的清洁,一点点encouragement, and hopefully, a small respite from everything going on in the world. We’ll be tackling a mix of cleaning projects, high and low, big and small, all around your home. You’ll end the program with a few important spring cleaning chores finished, plus a roadmap for how to take care of your home in the uncertain weeks ahead.

If you’ve participated in one of Apartment Therapy’s cleaning programs before, you know our mantra: “It’s about progress, not perfection.” Spring Cleaning shouldn’t be one more thing on your miles-long to-do list. So if you sign up, there’s no pressure to complete everything. We just want to help you figure out some small ways to make your space a warm and welcoming place to be.
