TikTok may have started as a platform for teens to show off their best dance moves and lip-sync to the latest Top 40 bops, but it’s since become a hub for tips, tricks, andDIY dupespeople all ages can enjoy. One TikToker named Christina, who goes by the username @FlipDaddie, uses her platform to show off hersecondhand/thrift furnitureflips that end up looking as good as (if not better than) brand name pieces.

Though she just started her TikTok account in September 2020, Christina, who broadcasts “live from my parents’ basement,” has already garnered over 102,000 followers and her videos have received a collective 652,900 likes. Her specialty is finding outdated and beat-up furniture onFacebook Marketplaceand giving unloved pieces the Urban Outfitters-meets-IKEA treatment.

A bit of sanding, stripping, and cleaning, a coat or two of fresh paint, and beautiful new hardware, and Christina creates an entirely new statement piece for next to no money, just like this IKEA glow-up piece above.

But what sets Christina apart from the regular DIY crowd is her willingness to reshape pieces of furniture to fit her end vision. For example, this boho bar cabinet started as a massive hutch with glass doors, molding at the top, and a detachable set of drawers. The end result is totally unrecognizable.

And these matching nightstands got a massive glow-up with baby pink paint, gold hardware, and delicate hairpin legs. Could you not see these being sold at IKEA or Home Goods with a hearty price tag attached?

Christina is just getting started. You can follow her project diaries over on TikTok @FlipDaddie, and we dare you to not flip every piece of furniture in your household after watching.
