Just south ofSan Francisco, close to the idyllic Highway 1 views of California’s picturesque cliffs and beaches, lies a tiny mushroom dome cabin in the woods. It’s one of the world’smost popular Airbnb listingsand, for just $130 a night, it could be yours to sleep in.

The Mushroom Dome cabin is in Monterey Bay and is surrounded by 10 acres of woods that make perfect hiking trails. Its mushroom cap-like dome is geodesic, reminiscent of Epcot’s dome, with triangular and rigid elements. The garden is even home to various kinds of hummingbirds year-round. The entire setting lends itself to nature adventures, with a dog and cats on the premises, plus goats to feed.

While there’s WiFi in the cabin, cell phone service can be spotty—perfect if you’re itching for a getaway with a soundtrack free of text notification tones, and full of crickets, birds chirping, and frogs croaking. However, a flat-screen TV (there’s no cable, but a DVD player and 80 DVDs) is available for entertainment purposes.

The space is made to sleep three, with a Casper queen mattress in the loft under the geodesic mushroom dome and a couch that can be made into a bed. A futon can also be set up for extra visitors. Children are welcome, as are dogs (owners need to bring a dog bed or a couch cover).

The deck is perfect for stargazing, with twinkling lights on the awning. A full kitchen, BBQ, and bathroom also complete the home, which—understandably—books months in advance. To book on a weekend, the owners suggest making a reservation at least six months ahead of time, with three-day weekends requiring three-day reservations. But its nearly 1,300 five-star ratings, and incredibly unique space, make it worth the wait.

Stays start at $130 per night. See more on the listinghere.
