Red is the color of love, vitality, fire trucks, and cherry sours, so what a perfect accent color for a nursery. Tripp’s mom, Jennifer, went all out with the red pops to create a bright, happy place for her new baby boy. We love the fire engine red crib and daybed, the vintage plumbing valve dresser knobs, and the bold, graphic alphabet wall. Jennifer did a wonderful job designing this room, and it’s a good thing she had it ready to go, because Tripp made his entry into the world a tad bit earlier than expected. After a 9 day NICU stay, Tripp came home happy, healthy, and ready to snuggle into his big red room with Mom, Dad, and big sister Mia.

What was your inspiration in designing this room?We wanted to create a fun masculine room that Tripp could grow into. The idea was to keep most of it crisp and clean while having fun with some whimsy and touches of red.

What is your favorite element?The Alphabet wall. It is a big statement in the room and takes up almost one entire wall.

What was your biggest challenge?Furniture placement. Nursery furniture goes along the borders of the room, that is just necessary. It can make it difficult to space plan though. Also, the window is not centered in the room, so we had to play a trick with the drapery panels.

Tell us about the amazing red crib and daybed!The crib and daybed are both craigslist finds. We gave them new life with a coat of red paint. The daybed is very functional too. It is a place for guests to sleep, or Mommy if needed. Also, the room will easily convert to a toddler room when we are ready.

What was your biggest indulgence?The alphabet wall and Polka Dot Glenna Jean Fabric.
