Valentina and Alessandro are originally from Italy, but have lived in Princeton for several years. They found this apartment, the first floor of a small house, after a thorough hunt through Princeton’s limited rentals. They love the open plan and big back yard, especially because they enjoy having friends over for any occasion.

Apartment Therapy Survey:

My Style:Colorful Contemporary

Inspiration:We love the pages of interior design magazines, although the sleek and minimal rooms depicted are always in neutral or black & white palettes, whereas we have an undeniable pull toward bright and sunny colors. Our version of sleek is cheerful.

Favorite Element:The bistro set in the kitchen. I love chatting when I’m cooking and when sitting there my friends are both comfortable and out of my way

Biggest Challenge:Finding the perfect spot for our movie projector, so that it would be practical and not too visible.

What Friends Say:每当我们提出结束晚上的地方,the offer is received with great enthusiasm. That’s exactly what we were hoping for – we love entertaining, and wanted to make our friends feel at home.

Proudest DIY:I’d say the bedroom wall. It was a very dark purple that took two coats of primer and three of paint to transform into that bright leafy green that makes me smile in the morning.

Biggest Indulgence:The new sofa bed we bought as soon as we moved in. It completed the big living room, and gives us extra room for guests.

Best Advice:Don’t be afraid to use different colors. Chances are, if you like them all, they will go together well!

Dream Sources:BoConcept
